Holiday Cards are coming

Because I haven’t been doing the 31 days of Christmas this year.  Moving to a new state over 900 miles away has kind of thrown off my schedule.  I am getting into the holiday spirit and thinking about designing some holiday cards.

While I have posted three winter wedding invites, Check them out  www.etsy.com/shop/WarmTidings, I need to expand my offerings.

I will have both digital and printed version available.   My goal is to do a huge push for Holiday Cards starting November 1st.  Let’s see if I can actually meet that goal.

I am also looking for ideas on how to promote my business and what the best way to expand.  I really want this to take off and I need to spend more time on it, but any advice my readers can give is greatly appreciated!!!!

New Graduation Announcements/Invites on Etsy Site

Graduation time is upon us again and it’s time to get the invites out.  I just posted a couple of invitation/announcement ideas on the Etsy site.  Check them out, let me know what you think, and if you REALLY like them, place an order.  These also don’t have to be for graduations they can be for ANY event.  All text can be customized.    A custom card is $5 and I can have it done that day typically!!!

Click on the photo below to go to the Esty Site to see the listing.

Yes that’s Channing Tatum in the first card, I didn’t want to pic somebody’s random senior picture.  I thought that was wierd so from now on I am using celebrity pictures in all of my photo cards!

If you haven’t already, please check out my Esty Site  WarmTidings – www.etsy.com/shop/warmtidings

I would love any feedback that you have or any tips and tricks anybody has about running and marketing a home based craft business!!!!!

See you soon for some Crafty Organization ideas!!!!!

Have a great Saturday everybody!

Cards, Cards, Cards – Cutting paper is fun

As I am trying to use up my vast amount of supplies and trying to come up with some new things so that I can perfect them and list them on the Etsy site.  ———> Link on the right!!!    You will see below that I created 3 cards that I am trying to just get the ideas out there and testing some new ideas.  Would love feedback on any of them.

Card #1

Here is an Easter card I came up with.  The point was to have a sunrise in the back the crosses and He’s risen are printed on velum and then I made a border.   They are put on a 4×6 card with foam squares to give more depth.

the background could maybe use some work but you get the idea.  I have more ideas for this one and will work on other variations.

Card #2

A sympathy card that I made for the Mother-In-Law.    I wanted to use the velum again and was trying to figure out the best way to keep it muted!

I made the grey background out of the shimmery sliver paper.  I cut the velum long so that it would wrap around the sides so that I could secure it in the back.  I then added a boarder which luckily fit.  It wasn’t exactly planned when I made the “with Sympathy” and then added bling embellishments on the sides.   This card ended up being extra special for my mother in law because the flowers for Nana’s funeral were all White and Red, which I didn’t know.  Intuition at it’s finest.

Card #3

Super simple Easter card.   This is what happens when you only have an hour to make 3 cards.

Simple Easter card

I used my favorite new tool, my sizzix bigkick, to create the letters in various colors.  I wasn’t even going to attempt to try to make them straight so I deliberately made them whimsy.    Added a flower and some bling embellishments and off we went.

Hope you liked these card ideas.  There will be more to come as I come up with ideas and please go and check out the Etsy site for all your invitation needs.  Prices for digital cards are just $5 and I have them done in less than 24 hours!!!

Have a Happy Easter Everybody!!!!

See you soon!!!

Wednesday Greeting: Get well cards

I am putting my new velums to use.  I made these cards for my husband’s 92 year old grandmother that just had leg surgery and is doing really well.  Hopefully she likes them.

I’m using up my paper flowers.   I’m really going to miss those when they are gone, but I’m sure there is an alternative out there, fingers crossed.

I love the pre-scored cards with envelopes from Michaels.  They come in white, ivory, and black.  They are the perfect size and they are sturdy.  Plus with coupons/sales you can get them for not a lot of money!!!

Here is a link to the blank cards.  CLICK HERE

I hope you like the ideas.   Be sure to check back on Friday for a decorating idea!!

See you soon

Making & Organizing your own velum

As you have already seen I am breaking into the card making business, mainly because I have all of these supplies and nothing to do with them.  I do digital scrapbooking for all of our yearly books so not much use for paper.  I love making and giving handmade cards.  I’m not as good as a lot of the “card maker” crowd but it’s the creativity that counts right.  You are going to be seeing a lot more cards as I am making them and hopefully getting them up on an etsy page soon!  The one thing I love about cards and traditional scrapbooking is velum.  I don’t know why but I always liked the way it looked and it’s perfect for quotes.  But, the issue I found is that you buy a pack of quotes and you only need like one or two or the others are not relevant to you needs.  So, a while back I bought a pack of velum paper at my local office supply store and this weekend I decided that I was going to make my own.  It worked great!!!  Any size any words it’s awesome.  I now can create a perfect saying or embellishment for my every need.  I’m so excited about this.  Here is what things look like!

Printed and cut apart

So now I have created all of these extra little sheets of paper that could easily be thrown all over the place by my two year old so it was VERY important that they be contained immediately.

So I used a mini catalog envelope.  I sealed it and cut it in half.  I labeled (aka wrote on with a marker) and hung from the magnetic strips on my desk.  Now I have embellishments at my fingertips at all times.

Hope you enjoyed today’s project.  Come back on Wednesday to see the velums in action!!!!!

Have a great evening!
